This Morning’s Holly Willoughby might not typically be considered a directional style icon—like most mainstream television personalities, she tends to favour cheery items with mass appeal rather than trend-led, fashion buys. Until last month, that is, when she wore a long-sleeve rainbow dress by London Fashion Week designer Ashish and we found ourselves checking her Instagram daily to see her green-room outfit-of-the-day posts. The latest being a fabulously affordable £45 dress from Henry Holland’s collection at Debenhams…

This absolute stunner of a frock is unfortunately now sold out in all sizes, but you can still pick up the kimono in the same print—and much of the rest of the collab is available. Should you want to get your feet into her ultra-flattering sandals, they’re from Office and coming in at a rather decent £60.

This £1408 rainbow dress might be pretty spectacular, however it’s the accessibility of her day-to-day wardrobe that makes her style worth paying attention to. Most mornings, she displays the best of the British high street, whether that’s her L.K.Bennett leather culottes or the best new dress from Warehouse. So what are her stylist Angie Smith’s tips for making the most out of a high-street budget?

“I think that certain brands excel in specific styles—for example, if I need a great cashmere jumper, I always go to John Lewis or M&S; for tailoring, L.K.Bennett and The Kooples; for coats and skirts, I go to Jigsaw; for dresses, Whistles; for skirts, H&M; and for shoes, Kurt Geiger. For everything else, and for one-off unexpected pieces, I regularly shop Massimo Dutti, Maje, Hobbs, Next, Warehouse, Russell & Bromley, Topshop and Office.”

As for outfits that always work for Holly? “She has an amazing hourglass figure, so she suits fitted, tailored shapes,” Smith shares. “All her looks have to work 360 because we never know what she’ll be doing that day.” But they have to be careful about colors and prints, as Smith explains: “Stripes and checks can strobe on TV, so they are a big no, sadly. We both love colour, so I always try and pack in as much as that as possible, as I think it really works for the show.”

Style Notes: Holly’s LK Bennett leather culottes are a bold trend piece, and so she played down the rest of the look by pairing them with a camel J Crew cashmere jumper and matching suede pumps.
