Your mum probably wore this trend loads on holiday in the late 80s, and I bet you thought it wasn’t very cool, but it’s making a sexy comeback and I am 100% there for it. In case you hadn’t guessed, I am obviously referring to linen.

It’s been slowly but surely taking over my Instagram, with editors and influencers turning to the natural fabric for a fresh and paired back take on summer dressing (maximalist fatigue maybe?).

On the catwalk, Rejina Pyo and Loewe led the way, giving the once un-cool fabric a sexy twist with clean shapes like pencil skirts and military jackets, and opting for earthy hues of beige and khaki.

Off the catwalk, the high street Warehouse, Mango and French Connection have served up sell-out options including a button down-dress and oversized suit.

If your budget allows it, look to STAUD, Nanushka and Rejina for some great standout pieces.

This really is a minimalist trend, so do opt for neutral tones and few accessories. I like a linen blazer, silk cami and shorts or smart jeans for a chic workwear option, paired with a tan flat sandal and

beaded bag.

For the holidays, opt for a simple while dress with a basket bag and wedges. Shop my edit of the best linen buys below.
